Arab human rights organization condemns Israeli crimes
The executive committee of the Arab human rights organization in Cairo on Tuesday condemned the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and said these are crimes of war and a blatant violation of the Geneva convention.
The committee made the remarks in a statement issued at the end of a two-day meeting. The conference discussed the impacts of the September 11 attacks on human rights systems in the Arab world and the west.
The meeting expressed grave concern at the failure of the international community to protect the Palestinians despite a decision by 114 signatory states of the Geneva convention to denounce Israeli violence against Palestinian civilians.
The committee also voiced concern at the possible negative impact of the anti-terror war on human rights, notably concerning new methods of investigation, detention and prosecution.
It also said that it is gravely concerned over the arrest of thousands of Arab nationals and Muslims in the United States and other western countries and their detention in secret places preventing them from contacting their parents or lawyers.
