Saudi Arabia: demolishing Ajyad castle is a Saudi issue
An official source at the Saudi foreign ministry has stressed that demolishing "Ajyad" castle is a matter of concern to Saudi Arabia.
In a statement to the Saudi daily Okaz issued on Wednesday, he said that the Turkish complaint and its claims concerning the castle is an attempt by the Turkish government to export its own problems.
On the other hand, the Saudi ambassador in Turkey Muhammad al-Bassam said that he was not notified officially of any official protest by the ministries of the foreign affairs and culture concerning the demolishing of the castle.
He said in a statement to the Saudi daily Okaz that the Turkish foreign ministry has summoned the first secretary at the Saudi embassy and they talked about the castle' s demolishing but gave no view point towards this issue.
Worthy mentioning that Saudi Arabia has approved the execution of the Ajyad castle implementation to invest it for the Mecca mosque.
The project includes using the site of the historical castle in building 11 residential towers and 32 floors of 943 flats and a five star hotel in the western part which overlooks al-Haram Mosque.
