Bin Alawi: Yemen's joining Gulf states does not contradict with its principles
Oman's minister of state for foreign affairs Youssef Bin Alawi has stressed that Yemen's gradual joining of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC ) does not contradict with principles, objectives and charter of the council, because Yemen is an important country in the depth of the Arab Peninsula.
He stressed the backing of all GCC member states, with no exception and denied that Yemen's joining the GCC to be in contradiction with the Arab League principles to expand the base of the GCC member states at the expense of joining the mother organization ( namely the Arab League).
He said that the GCC is concentrating on two main issues: security and economic cooperation and political activity which is linked to stances set by the AL.
On the possibility of Iraq's joining the GCC, Bin Alawi said:" this falls in the framework of the possibilities and every thing is changeable, except the holy Koran."
