UN food program urges the international community to give humanitarian aids to Somalia

The UN Food program on Friday renewed its call on the international community to give humanitarian aids to Somalia which suffers drastic shortage of food because of the drought and warned against further catastrophic conditions there.

News reports quoted the UN food program in Somalia Keven Karel as saying in a statement that some 500,000 Somalis in the southern parts of the country are now suffering food shortage especially in Jeido area where scarce rainfall inflected total damages of the agricultural season in August this year.
