Washington confirms support for Yemeni measures

The Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh has received a message from the US secretary of State Colin Powell, handed over by the US ambassador in Sanaa Edmond Haal to the Yemeni Foreign minister Abu Baker Abdullah al-Qurabi.

The Yemeni News Agency said that Powell indicated in his message Washington's support for Yemen in the area of fighting terrorism and that the US is ready to provide needed possibilities to support his efforts to this effect.

The Yemeni government had launched a large scale operation to arrest members of al-Qaeda organization in three border provinces with Saudi Arabia, inhabited mostly by tribes which are out of the control of the central ( Yemeni) authority with the aim to chase one or two members of al-Qaeda organization.
