Former Jordanian Islamist parliamentarian arrested in the US

Former Jordanian member of Parliament Zeib Anis, who is member in the Islamic Labor Front, the largest opposition Jordanian party, was arrested recently in the US for a matter relating to the entry visa, according to the party on Thursday.

The secretary general of the Islamic labor front Abdul Latif Arabeyat has extended a message to the Jordanian foreign minister Abdul Illah al-Khatib in which he stressed Jordan's interference to ensure quick release of Anis who suffers heart and breathing problems.

The message explained that Zeib Anis has been for many years used to visit the US at the invitation of Arab and Islamic foundations and establishments there, especially in the fasting month of Ramadan in order to play a charitable and intellectual role there. And it never happened at any time that he was questioned.
