Number of Israel supporters decreased, French questionnaire says

A French opinion poll has revealed an increase in the number of French people who sympathize with the Palestinian question and the decreases in the number of those who sympathize with Israel, in comparison to a similar opinion poll held in 2000.

The opinion poll which was held by the BFA foundation and issued on Tuesday by the French daily " Liberation " and covered 965 persons that 21% of people took part in the poll held Israel responsible in case a war is erupted in the Middle East.

Some49% of the French entitled by the poll expressed fears of the expansion of anti- Semitism in France against 70% in 2000.

The opinion poll which was made by telephone said that 42% of the French considered the coverage of events in the Middle East by the western mass media as being made objectively for 56% in 2000, while 18% said that this coverage is biased to Israel for 9% in 2000.
