Originally published

Morocco on Wednesday tied 1-1 with Mali in a trial match played in Settat, near Casablanca, part of the Atlas Lions' preparations for the 2002 African Nations Cup (CAN-2002), due next month in Mali.

Youssef Safri of English second league club of Coventry scored the opener for Morocco at the 9th minute of the game that was of a low level.

The Malians equalized in the first half.

Morocco's coach, Portuguese Humberto Cuelho, said he was not satisfied by his player's performance and that his team has to work harder before the start of the CAN-2002.

"We still have two weeks before the start of competitions. We will play two other trials and the team that will represent Morocco in the African Cup will be disclosed next week," Cuelho said.

Morocco is drawn in Group B together with Ghana, Burkina Faso and South Africa.
