Morocco's trade deficit worsens in 2001
Morocco's trade deficit stood at 23.9 billion Dirhams, roughly $ 2.07 billion, in the first half of 2001, worsening by 8% compared to the first six months of 2000.
This deficit represents 12.8 percent of the GDP against 12.6 percent during the first six months of 2000.
The Moroccan economic forecast department, which disclosed the figures, imputed the deterioration of the deficit to a fall in Morocco's exports against a stabilization of imports.
The coverage rate of imports by exports also fell by 3.8 points.
