Morocco deplores blasts in al-Quds, Haifa

Originally published

Morocco has voiced deep regrets over the blasts Saturday and Sunday in Al-Quds and Haifa.

Morocco expresses deep regrets over such blasts, as this does not ease the efforts made by the international community in a bid to resume peace negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis, said the spokesperson of the ministry of foreign affairs and cooperation.

Morocco has repeatedly stressed the need to put an end to the acts of violence that trigger a spiral of violence and condemns, on any occasion, the aggressions that target innocent civilians on both sides, the spokesperson said.

The bomb blasts left at least 30 people dead and wounded about 220.

A suicide bombing on a bus in the northern city of Haifa on Sunday killed at least 15 and injured dozens. On Saturday night, another suicide bomb and a car bomb blast in downtown Jerusalem had left 10 dead and more than 150 wounded. The suicide bombers were also killed.

The armed wing of the Islamic militant group Hamas claimed responsibility and said it carried out the bombings to avenge Israel's killing of Hamas's military leader last month.

The Palestinian leadership condemned the attempts and renewed condemnation of all acts targeting civilians. The Palestinian leadership declared a state of emergency and ordered its security forces to arrest militants who planned and carried out the deadly suicide bombings inside Israel.
