The US and Yemen have discussed the issue of strengthening their co-operation on the area of fighting terrorism on Tuesday evening in Washington between the US President George Bush and the Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, but the two countries could not achieve a memorandum of understanding on co-operation in fighting terrorism and supporting development in Yemen.

News reports said that the spokesman for the White House Ary Flisher underestimated the idea that there is no agreement on this point and the fact certain points some times needed to be settled.

Flisher stressed that President Saleh expressed during the meeting, which was totally dedicated to the question of fighting terrorism, his desire to be a very strong partner for the US in the battle against terrorism.

He also explained that discussions also in particular dealt with the need of eliminating the sources of supplying terrorism and strengthening the issue of exchanging information.
