Egypt committed to work for peace achievement

Egyptian Ambassador to the US Nabil Fahmi yesterday renewed Egypt's commitment to work with the various sides concerned to achieve peace in the Mideast region. In statements to CNN, he cited US Secretary of State Colin Powell's statements in which he urged a halt on Israeli settlement activities and the setting up of a Palestinian state side by side with the Israeli one.

Fahmi called for putting into effect Powell's statements on the Middle East peace process.

"Despite disappointment over the inability to achieve just and comprehensive peace in the region, the past years witnessed a progress, referring in this respect to the peace agreement between Israel and Jordan," he added.
