Ethiopians accusations against Eritrea
The Ethiopian foreign minister Sayoum Mesfein on Wednesday accused Eritrea of deploying forces in the neutral area between Ethiopia and Eritrea. An area supervised by the UN.
News reported quoted the Ethiopian minister as saying upon returning back to Addis Ababa coming from New York where he delivered a speech before the UN General Assembly that Eritrea had chosen a dangerous and destructive way by deploying its forces inside the provisional security region, a matter which will result in the re-eruption of conflict between the two countries.
The Ethiopian minister added he urged the UN and the African Unity Organization to prevent Eritrea from deploying forces inside the said area which is of 25 Km depth. This area was established in the framework of an agreement signed between both Eritrea and Ethiopia in Algiers in 2000, to end a two- year old war between the two countries. He continued that if the UN will fail to do so, Ethiopia will have the right to defend her sovereignty and territorial safety.
On the other hand, a source at the UN mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea said there is no indication which proves the accusations of the Ethiopian minister.
