The Iraqi national council (parliament) has called for convening a special conference for the Arab parliamentary Union in its headquarters in Damascus in order to discuss developments in Palestine and Afghanistan.

The Iraqi news agency said that the chairman of the Iraqi national council Saadoun Hammadi stressed in a message he addressed to the chairman of the Palestinian national council Salim al-Zanoun the need to convene such a conference and to conclude:" decisions stating measures against Israel." Hammadi also stressed the need of " maintaining cooperation with all people's organizations and organizations and trade unions and parties concerned."

Hammadi also proposed the " establishment of a follow up committee to implement the decisions and measures to be concluded by the conference and such a committee to meet once or twice a week at least in order to follow up decisions and recommendations released by the said meeting."

Worthy mentioning that the two Palestinian and Iraqi councils ( parliaments ) are linked to a cooperation agreement in all fields and parliamentary moves concerning Arab and international issues.
