Originally published

A Yemeni official said on Friday he will suspend offering entry visas to the country at the airport for all who carry American and European passports for three months in order to close the door before the Afghani Arabs who carry such passports.

The official considered that this decision was taken as a reserve measure against forging American and European passports by Afghanis in order to enter Yemen and also to prevent certain Afghani citizen especially members of al-Qaida who have valid passports from the US and European states.

The Yemeni official added that the measure to grant entry visas at the airport will be enforced as from Saturday ( Today), adding that any persons including the Afghanis who want to visit Yemen can apply for an entry visa at any Yemeni embassy through ordinary channels.

This measure, however, comes in the framework of a series of security measures including the establishment of security belt around the Yemeni capital Sanaa with the participation of the armed forces, so as to prevent sneaking of any suspected element to the country.
