Maher calls for an international conference to discuss the issue of terrorism
The Egyptian foreign minister Ahmad Maher has stressed that terrorism lists issued recently by the American administration are only obligatory for the US and Egypt is only committed to the UN Security Council resolutions concerning terrorism.
In a statement to the London- based al-Sharq al-Awsat paper on Tuesday Maher added that there is a grave situation in Palestine and that there is an American and European realization to the seriousness of this situation, noting that the US has been convinced to move following the European and Arab contacts with Washington.
Maher called for convening an international conference to discuss the issue of terrorism. He said that such a conference is necessary because it will be the only means to counter terrorism.
On the possibility of US expansion of its military operations against terrorism into outside Afghanistan, Maher said that all have realized the consequences of extending these operations to other countries.
