A new date for Arafat's visit to Damascus expected to be fixed
Palestinian sources in Damascus have expected a meeting to be held by the Syrian foreign minister Farouk al-Shara and the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat in New York on the sideline of the meeting of the UN General Assembly in order to define a new date for Arafat's visit to Damascus.
In a statement to the Kuwaiti daily al-Rai al-Am issued on Monday, the secretary general of the Palestinian people's militant front Khaled Abdul Miguid said that the issue of Arafat's visit to Damascus was debated between the chairman of the PLO official Farouk al-Qaddoumi and Arafat's advisor Nabil Shaath upon the convening of the Arab follow up committee in Damascus with the Syrian foreign minister Farouk al-Shara who preferred to postpone tackling this issue ( Arafat's visit to Damascus) until after the meeting of the UN General Assembly.
