Police identifies sender of suspected mail in Marrakesh
The regional judiciary police in Marrakesh arrested on Wednesday a second person having sent an envelope containing a white powder to a colleague, sources from the ministry of the interior said.
The culprit, Ms Kondoussi Souad, 40, a staffer from the Cadi Ayyad Semlalia University in Marrakesh, had deposited Wednesday morning the suspected envelope, that was bearing neither a stamp nor a seal, on her colleague's desk.
The envelope was sent to the laboratory for analysis and the investigation conducted immediately led, with the help of a graphology expert, to the culprit who confessed she was merely intending to joke with her colleague.
The general prosecutor ordered that the culprit be held under custody and be presented to the competent jurisdiction.
Last Friday, a Casablanca-based entrepreneur, Hicham kadiri, was arrested in Casablanca. He confessed having sent a threat letter to an industrialist.
The police is carrying on investigations to find out potential links between the man and other similar mails sent to other persons and institutions in Morocco, including the US embassy in Rabat and a relative of the Dutch ambassador in Morocco.
Under articles 400 and 425 of the Moroccan penal law, authors of such acts may be sentenced to imprisonment for 6 months to 2 years and fines may amount to 200,000 Dirhams (about $18,180).
