Egyptian Prime Minister Atef Ebeid said that Egypt's revenues from oil exports have increased over the past period.

He added the volume of Egypt's imports has declined by $ 2 billion, a matter which enhanced the balance of payments.

The impact of the Afghani war on the Egyptian economy is limited, but all production sectors have to work out alternative plans in case the war continues for a long time, Ebeid said in his meeting early this week with the Federation of Egyptian industries.

The Egyptian industrial sector, will not be harmed unless a state of economic recession dominates the main countries controlling the world trade especially Europe and the US , Ebeid added.

Meanwhile, Ebeid praised the efforts exerted by the ministry of industry and technological development in working out the first Egyptian industrial map.

Ebeid underlined the importance of the industrial map in providing necessary data to investors and industrialists so as to realize industrial development and provide new job opportunities.

Minister of Industry and technological development Mustafa Refasi said the ministry's program depends on setting up, establishing and developing the infrastructure through a number of axes, mainly the national quality program and forming industrial cadres.

Restructuring and updating the technological infrastructure and industrial units come among the main axes of Egypt's industry modernization drive.

The Minister said the Information infrastructure ventures are represented in the national project laying down Egypt's first industrial map, 95 per cent of which have been accomplished in cooperation between the general industrialized authority, the Cabinet Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) as well as the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAMPAS).

"The new plan aims at encouraging investment and promoting industrial cooperation," the Minister added.

"A guide book for Egyptian industrial products will be issued, including 3100 products," Refaei said.

A Bi-annual periodical will also be issued, including the industrial ventures nominated for investment and the products to be exported, he added.
