Arafat, Solana's press conference

The higher representative of the foreign policy and security in the European Union Javier Solana has described the situation in the Palestinian territories as very difficult.

In a joint press conference he held on Monday evening with the chairman of the Palestinian territories Yasser Arafat in Gaza, following a meeting they held, Solana indicated that the European Union will continue to make all efforts for maintaining the peace process.

For his part Arafat stressed his complete commitment to the peace process, noting that such a peace is not only for the Middle East region, rather for the world as a whole.

Following the meeting which lasted for more three hours Arafat said he talked with Solana in details on what the Palestinian people are facing of escalated grave Israeli practices in all Palestinian territories.
