Originally published

President Emil Lahoud of Lebanon said on Saturday that pro- Israeli agents were behind the recent attacks at two churches and one Mosque in Lebanon.

In statements he made after the attack on a mosque on Friday night which followed attacks on two churches last weeks, the Lebanese President commented: " Only agents who aim to serve Israel can think of such actions. They will not escape justice for long," adding that the " attacks will not upset the country's delicate sectarian balance, and national stability, Lebanon has bypassed the worrisome stage." The Lebanese President issued the said statement shortly after prosecutors started investigating the attack on a mosque in the northern town of Batroun for possible arson.

In a similar statement to the press, Lebanese prosecutor general for north Lebanon Raymond Queidan said: " we consider it a criminal investigation."
