Tennis: Morocco's Arazi rolls out second-seeded Agassi in second round at Stuttgart tournament
Morocco's Hicham Arazi ousted second-seeded Andre Agassi in the second round of the $2.95 million Tennis Masters Series event Wednesday in Stuttgart.
Arazi recorded a 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 upset of Agassi, an American who has captured a record 12 trophies at the nine Tennis Masters Series tournaments, including two this year.
Arazi, who knotted his career series with Agassi at two wins apiece, will be meeting 15th seed Tommy Haas in the third round Thursday.
Agassi broke Arazi's serve in the eighth game to open a 5-3 lead. But the lefthander, who will celebrate his 28th birthday Friday, battled back to capture the first-set tiebreaker.
"He came up with some real good shots at the right time," Agassi said. "He just executed his shots better than me when the games got close. I had a couple of chances, but not as many as he did."
