Moussa urges Arabs, Muslims to increase financial support of Palestinians
Arab League secretary general Amr Moussa urged on Tuesday Arabs and Muslims to increase their financial assistance to the Palestinians to enable them to face up to the daily Israeli attacks.
In an interview with the Palestinian satellite channel, Moussa said the financial support does not live up to the difficulties currently facing the Palestinians, adding that "Arab assistance could be better than that." Asked about the hurdles facing the Arab and Islamic assistance to the Palestinians, Moussa said " there are many but at least Arabs have offered the minimum or in other words the necessary part of the assistance to the Palestinians living under the Israeli siege."
He said the Arab League is transferring from its personal donations about $ 250,000 monthly to the Palestinians.
Concerning his vision towards the US events and the slackness as regards the Palestinian cause, he said "the issue of slackness will be dealt with because they understood or at least I hope they did understand that the slackness was one of the reasons behind the current world situation. It is not possible any more that we do nothing against Sharon's policies. Military occupation leads to resistance or confrontations." Asked on the possibility of changing the world situation, Moussa said it is possible but it needs more active moves. "The situation is still not hopeless."
