Sudanese ruling national congress party to convene conference tomorrow

Originally published

Works of the Sudanese ruling national congress party chaired by President Omar Hassan al-Bashir, President of the congress, will start in Khartoum tomorrow ( Wednesday).

The Sudanese daily al-Sahafah issued on Monday quoted a leading source at the party as saying that the National Congress will keep President al-Bashir as the party's secretary general. The source said the nomination for the post of the secretary general of the said party is confined to three persons, while efforts have failed to convince Ahmad Ibrahim Omar to stay in his current post as the secretary general of the party.

The source explained that the three candidates are Dr. Ghazi Salah Eddine al-Atabani who is the secretary of the political sector and the advisor of the president for peace affairs; Dr. Nafe' Ali Nafe' the secretary of the organizational sector and Abdul Rahim Ali, the deputy chairman of the Shoura council. The last candidate ( Abdul Rahim Ali) is considered the best candidate on the ground of his dealing with crisis which took place against the party.
