Blair for reviving the ME peace
British Prime minister Tony Blair has renewed his commitment to reviving the Middle East peace process. He also vowed to work for lifting the suffering of the Iraqi people and not to expand the scale of the current war against Afghanistan.
In an interview to the British weekly " the Observer" issued on Sunday, Blair stressed the ME dimension to preserve the international alliance against terrorism. He noted that there is a drastic need for peace in the region and called for what he called a " security bridge " to move with the peace process into its second phase in a way to guarantee serious talks between the Palestinian and Israeli sides.
Blair also denied in this interview the possibility of expanding the scale of the current war in Afghanistan. He added that there are no plans to expand the war or to attack Iraq, noting that such matters need to be discussed with the " partners." He also called for alleviating the sanctions imposed on Iraq in a way that permits the flow of more foodstuffs and medical items to it.
