AL: US President is very keen to support the establishment of a Palestinian state
The secretary general of the Arab League (AL) Amre Mousa has expressed his conviction that the US President George Bush is very serious in supporting the establishment of the Palestinian state.
In a statement to the Kuwaiti daily al-Rai al-Am issued on Friday, Mousa expected that the world position concerning the establishment of the Palestinian state quickly to be the same as it had changed the moment after September 11, when the attacks took place against New York and Washington.
Mousa called on the Arab and the Islamic world to provide further financial support for the Palestinians. He criticized the US policy towards the Middle East question and expressed his conviction that the world can not after now leave matters just to be decided by the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon.
Mousa stressed having a state maintaining a military occupation will be eventually met by resistance and consequently into confrontation.
