Expanding the circle of the American attacks

Originally published

The London- based al-Quds al-Arabi issued on Monday said that the American military build up for the terrorism fighting campaign will not be limited to the attack against Afghanistan and it might extend to Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Palestine.

The paper added there are several views on the American campaign. The first states concentration on Bin Laden's base and leaving behind the alliance to strike branch organizations and networking with Washington taking no additional risk, just to co-ordinate among the intelligence of the alliance members. This opinion is represented by Colin Powell.

The paper said that another view states to start with Afghanistan and then expand the circle so as to include the huge oil field around the Caspian by striking Iraq and may be to include Iran in the early stage, and this view is represented by the US defense secretary and the advisor for the national security.

In an editorial written by its chief editor Abdul Bari Atwan, the paper said that after the American denial that US President did not vow to King Abdullah not to strike any Arab state, we have to take into our account that Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Palestine, are the only targets for the after Afghanistan phase, noting that these are Arab positions which are originally on the map of terrorism.
