After player's death, Morocco's football governing body requires players' medical record
Following the death of a Moroccan player at a match, the Moroccan football body (FRMF) has said it will henceforth require that all Moroccan players have a medical record, attesting their fitness to play high-level competition.
Every player of the Moroccan first and second leagues should henceforth hold a health record in the same way as a license, the Federation said in a release on Friday.
Youssef Belkhoja, a player of the prestigious WAC of Casablanca club, died last Saturday on the pitch at a derby match against RAJA of Casablanca part of the semi-final of the Moroccan Throne Cup.
Belkhoja, 25, was said to be suffering from a non-diagnosed heart disease.
The federation said it will convoke clubs managers to debate the details of the health record project.
