UNRWA receives $ five million from Al Aqsa fund

Originally published

The United Nations Work Relief Agency for Palestinian refugees has been donated a US$ 5 million contribution from Al Aqsa fund, a fund set up by the Arab League in last October and managed by the Islamic Development Bank.

UNRWA had launched last June an emergency appeal for US$ 77 million to finance the creation of temporary jobs for Palestinians and to carry out reconstruction works in the West Bank and Gaza where half of the population are leaving under the poverty line.

The UNRWA official, Peter Hanssen, thanked the Fund for this generous donation which will help the agency face emergency needs of Palestinian refugees resulting from Israel's restrictive measures imposed on the movement of persons and goods.
