La Liber Belgique: on the road to Damascus

The Belgian daily " La Libere Belgique " issued on Sunday said that the same way Saint Paul had changed his outlook towards Christianity after he saw " the divine vision," on his way to Damascus where he had restored back his eye- sight; the same was for the Belgian minister Louis Michael in Damascus on Thursday and Friday, accompanied by the European Troika delegation.

This was expressed in a report written by Philippe Bakeh under the title " Louis Michael on the route to Damascus" in which he talked about the tour of the European delegation in the region and the results of the Damascus visit and the meeting with the Syrian officials on the stances and convictions of members of the European delegation especially the Belgian foreign minister Louis Michael, the chairman of the current rotating session of the European Union.

The paper noted that the Syrian foreign minister Farouk al-Shara debated the question of making a distinction between terrorism and legitimate resistance of the national liberation movements like Hizbullah in Lebanon and resistance in the occupied territories. Al- Shara stressed before the European delegation:" you should not forget the catastrophic suffering of the Palestinian people."
