Arab Americans in Orlando donate $50,000 to red cross fund
The Arab-American community of the city of Orlando have donated more than $50,000 to the American Red Cross, reports the Anti-Discrimination Committee.
The Arab-American contribution constituted some 21 percent of all donations to the Orlando Red Cross thus far.
Orlando Mayor Glenda E. Hood expressed her appreciation to the Orlando-area for their generous donation, adding her voice to those of many others in the nation's leadership who warned against targeting Arab Americans in vengeful reaction to the tragedy of September 11.
"Terrorism wears no particular color," she said, "Arab Americans died in these incidents too, and we cannot compound their grief with isolation. 'United we stand' applies to every American, regardless of race, color, religion or creed."
