Syria, Lebanon cling to principles

Originally published

The Paris based weekly al-"Muharrir news" said in its recent issue that the consultations, held away from limelight between Damascus and Beirut resulted in committing to principles and not to be subjected to pressures, with a special stress on rejecting mixing the two concepts of terrorism and resistance.

The weekly quoted well-informed sources as saying that the two capitals considered " Hizbullah " as a red line after it was found out that there are certain sides which provoke against the said party.

On the other hand, the London- based al-Hayat daily quoted in its Friday's issue Syrian well-informed sources as expressing its satisfaction over the current dialogue with Damascus since the recent explosions and the success of the Arab efforts in alienating the Arabs from the issue of terrorism from the International campaign and Washington's distinction between terrorism and resistance.

The paper also quoted diplomatic sources as saying that Arab and European states who are linked to strong relations with Damascus recommended Syrian officials to seize the recent developments as an opportunity for openness steps towards the West and America.
