The Saudis refuse permitting the Americans to use al-Kharj airbase in their expected attacks
The BBC correspondent in Saudi Arabia has stated that the Saudis refuse to permit the Americans using al-Kharj airbase which is situated to the south of the capital al-Riyadh as a center for launching their attacks or for leading the attacks expected to be held.
He also indicated that the Saudi leaders find themselves before a very difficult dilemma. They ( the Saudis) can not say no for the Americans with whom they are linked to firm relations and constitute a protection to them and between the fact that Saudi Arabia is a main country in the Islamic world and it is not logical that attacks will start from it to strike Arab and Islamic countries in the region.
The correspondent indicated that the George Bush administration wants many things from its ally Saudi Arabia and the Saudis expressed readiness to fulfil many of these things, including keeping or increasing their oil exports especially if oil prices will increase as a result of a military act to take place near or in the Middle East and releasing declared statement expressing their regret over the attacks targeted the US and their opposition to terrorism.
