European Commission in Rabat moves to new offices

Originally published

The European Commission delegation in Rabat has moved to bigger offices in the residential and business area of Hay Riad in Rabat.

The delegation explains in a statement moving to new and bigger offices was made necessary by the importance of Morocco as a partner and a pioneer in regional integration in north Africa.

Following this year's visits by chairman of the European Commission, Romano Prodi, European commissioners, Christopher Patten and Pascal Lamy, and the EU high representative for external policy, Javier Solana, the moving to new offices was decided after the European Commission picked Morocco as a pilot-country to speed up the MEDA program (financial tool of Euro-Mediterranean cooperation) and to extend more support to strategic reforms going on in Morocco, on the eve of the free-trade area with Europe slated for 2012, says the statement.
