Mubarak to review government performance this week
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will preside over a Cabinet meeting this week to review the government's performance during the last months.
It is expected that every minister will submit a report on his achievements and future plans. The President will consider the government's pledges announced in its statement policy and the recommendations put by the Cabinet, governors and ministerial committees.
The economic file will take the biggest portion of discussions especially following the recent measures taken early August to amend the rate of foreign exchange and re-activating the stock exchange in addition to ways of increasing the state's foreign currencies resources.
A1 Gomhuria newspaper learned that the statements made by ministers will be among the criteria taken to assess their performance because some of these statements are not keeping pace with reality.
The reports drawn up by 30 ministers about the performance proved positive results in all sectors, said Premier Atef Ebeid who met with his ministers two days ago to discuss all these reports before submitting them to the President.
In a related development, Ebeid is expected to meet today with the economic ministerial group to follow up the latest developments in the local exchange market.
Ebeid denied categorically that the government plans to cancel the incentives or exemptions offered to the investment projects.
