Moussa to visit Washington

Originally published

The secretary general of the Arab League (AL) Amr Moussa will hold a visit to the US by the end of this Month September. The visit will last two weeks and cover New York, Michigan and Washington where he will hold a series of meetings. This is, however, his first visit of the kind to the USA after he assumed his current post in the mid of May this year in succession of the former secretary general Ismat Abdul Miguid.

Well-informed sources said that Moussa will be meeting with the leaderships of the Arab and Islamic organizations in the USA to discuss opportunities of cooperation between the AL and these organizations as well as to link between the AL and the Arab communities living in the USA.

The sources continued that he agenda of the AL chief, which has not been set ultimately, covers meetings with several remarkable US senators as he will discuss with them Arab causes with concentration on the current situation in the Middle east.

Mousa received an invitation from the Middle East institute ( one of the main research centers in Washington) to talk at its annual conference during its coming phase.

During his recent visit to Washington when he was Egypt's foreign minister, Moussa met with the leaders of the Arab and Islamic organizations and listened to their views and proposals on the relations between the Arab League and the Arab expatriates. Matters to be crystallized during his recent visit to the USA.
