UNESCO expert lauds Old Cairo restoration project

UNESCO has appreciated the restoration and renovation project of Old Cairo.

An official was delegated by UNESCO to inspect the project as a call was placed on the Internet to put an end to the project that destroys the historical nature of old Cairo.

The UNESCO expert visited a number of renovation sites accompanied by officials from the UNESCO office in Cairo.

He appreciated the restoration project especially that of Al Ghori Mosque.

Minister of Culture Farouq Hosni said the UNESCO expert cannot bias with the Egyptian officials and he will present a report on the restoration of Old Cairo to the international organization.

The UNESCO expert requested the Ministry of Culture to prepare a book on the restoration project in Old Cairo.

Farouk Hosni discussed with the international expert the process to benefit from UNESCO expertise in restoration projects and training the graduates of the Faculty of Archaeology.
