Maher: Sharon's policies of hate proved failure
Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher said that the Israeli public opinion began to witness development, which is evident in the joint statement issued by former Israeli minister of justice Yossi Beilin and Palestinian Minister of Information Yasser Abd Rabbo.
The development is also evident in the demonstration staged by the peace-loving people in Israel, said Maher.
In press statements following his meeting with Belin, member of the Israeli Labour Party, Maher Monday said a large sector of the Israeli public opinion has started to sense that the current Israeli government of Ariel Sharon has completely failed and has not realized security for Israel, but rather more victims are falling on both sides.
"This proves that those who elected Sharon have discovered that he did not keep his promises and that his policies of hate has failed," he said, pointing out that the Israeli layman feels that Sharon has deceived him.
He noted that Egypt does not bet on anyone in Israel, but observes the development of the public opinion inside, which reflects the search for other more realistic policies when the current ones fail.
"Policies that cope with the peace requirements and are more aware of the fact that violence can never resolve any problem," he said.
