Museum of Islamic conquest, military life in Middle Ages

Originally published

Egyptian Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni decided to set up an open historical and cultural museum in the area of Cairo northern wall near Al-Nasr and Al-Fotouh gates to integrate with the area's development projects.

The decision comes within the framework of the national project to save and develop Old Cairo ancient antiquities.

The minister underlined that the project which costs LE 10 million aims at economically developing this important movement through using its potentialities and benefiting from its historical and technical value in a way that would achieve financial revenue to maintain and preserve it.

The minister pointed that the museum will narrate the history of building the wall in the Fatimid era and using it during the Islamic state in the Middle Ages. It will shed light as well on the military and social life of the Fatimids, Mameluks and Ayubites.

The museum will be provided with up-to-date anti-theft, fire alarm systems and electronic gates.
