Egypt gets back Merit bust from Britain
Egypt retrieved the bust of Merit, one of the princesses of the 19th Dynasty in Pharaonic Egypt, within cooperation between Egyptian and British security agencies.
Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA), Gaballah Ali Gaballah received the bust and returned to Egypt after the British Museum managed to restore the bust via legal ways.
The bust is a unique artistic masterpiece that has several engravings and symbols expressing a distinguished epoch in the ancient Pharaonic history, said Gaballah, adding the bust will be put on display in the Egyptian Museum.
"The Egyptian government does its best to preserve its antiquities and to confront international antiquities gangs that plunder Egyptian monuments," said Gaballah.
