Ghali's chances to keep Francophone post grow

Originally published

"Chances for Boutros Ghali, Secretary-General of the Francophone Organisation, to keep his post for a second term are high," said Egypt's Ambassador in Paris Ali Maher.

Egypt made contacts with Francophone capitals that voiced appreciation of Ghali's numerous accomplishments since he assumed responsibilities four years ago.

Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher had contacts in this respect with a number of presidents and foreign ministers of African Francophones during the recent African Summit in Lusaka as some of whom expressed support for Egypt's candidate.

"On the sidelines of Lusaka Summit meetings some African Francophone like Senegal, Cote d'Ivoire and Togo expressed their support to Ghali," said Maher.
