Al-Bashir does not oppose early elections

The Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir has stressed that the Sudanese government does not oppose to accelerate the process of carrying out an early general elections, if the basics and principles of the joint Egyptian- Libyan initiative will be agreed upon.

The Sudanese president noted the readiness of the ruling national congress in arranging its conditions to launch the elections.

In a speech he delivered before the directors of the Sudanese universities, President al-Bashir added that the basics and principles debated in the last paper is in compliance with the Sudanese constitution and the Khartoum agreement for peace. He said what is needed now is an immediate cease- fire, noting that he asked for that from the two countries of the peace initiative in Sudan, namely Egypt and Libya.
