Fighting smuggling in Syria

Well-informed Syrian sources told the Kuwaiti daily al-Rai al-Am that the specialized security forces, in the course of the campaign to fight corruption have recently carried out a vast breaking in campaign against smugglers in several Syrian provinces that resulted in arresting many of the outlaws and seizing large amounts of smuggled items.

The sources added that the campaigns covered the provinces of Damascus, Aleppo, Homs and the Syrian coast, especially the city of Lattakia and the breaking-in operations " resulted in almost cleaning the places where the smugglers keep the smuggled items and arresting many of them as well as seizing large amounts of smuggled electrical equipment and tobacco."

The sources stressed that the campaign aimed at eliminating the phenomenon of the " outlaws" with the beginning of the tourism season and it will not be temporary, rather will continue to eliminate this phenomenon ultimately.
