Arab FMs to meet on Wednesday to react to Israeli practices

Originally published

The secretary general of the Arab League (AL) Amr Moussa on Friday called on the Arab foreign ministers to convene a meeting in Cairo on Wednesday to formulate an answer to the recent Israeli practices.

In a statement to journalists on Friday Moussa said: It is not possible for all of us as Arabs, nor for the AL and its secretary general but to refuse the acts and statements of the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon, including what he had stated on the settlement in the Golan and keeping it under the occupation, noting that the question of the Golan will be discussed in the meeting.

Moussa added that the Israeli insults of the Arabs have been made great and it is time for the Arabs to reply to these insults after Israel had ignored them as a group and continued to demolish the Palestinian houses and to attack the civilians.

Moussa told journalists that the Gulf Cooperation Council is the side which asked for the convening of Wednesday's meeting. He hinted that a preparatory meeting will be held at the level of high ranking officials on Tuesday.
