Sharon speaks on the phone with Annan

Originally published

The Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon on Tuesday talked on the telephone with the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.

A statement released by the Israeli cabinet said that Sharon stressed to Annan that he will make no negotiations with the Palestinians on the political settlement unless the Palestinian Intifada is completely halted.

The government of Sharon has refused the implementation of the Mitchell report package under the pretext that the Palestinians did not stop what the government called " acts of violence."
