Originally published

Secretary general of the Moroccan foreign affairs and cooperation ministry, Mohamed Rachad Bouhlal, arrived on Monday in Algiers, leading the Moroccan delegation to the 37th session of the Arab Maghreb Union follow-up Committee.

He is accompanied by several executives, including Mohamed Azeroual, ambassador head of the Arab and Islamic Affairs department of the foreign affairs and cooperation ministry.

The Algiers session to be preceded by a meeting of experts this Monday will assess work conducted since last March's session which set up a task group to ponder on means to re-activate the Maghreb Unification process.

Set up in 1984 in Marrakesh, the union groups Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco and Tunisia. The UMA construction process has been frozen, due to disputes between member states, especially between Morocco and Algeria over the latter's direct involvement in the Sahara issue.
