Spain voices attachment to privileged ties with Morocco, Rabat satisfied

Originally published

Morocco welcomed with satisfaction the recent statement made by Spanish Premier, Jose Maria Aznar, asserting Madrid's attachment to privileged ties with Morocco.

The spokesman for the Moroccan foreign affairs department on Saturday welcomed Aznar's affirming Madrid's resolve "to show the importance that we give to relations between our two nations."

"We want them (Moroccan-Spanish relations) to be privileged ones between two equal nations and based on mutual respect," Aznar told the Spanish parliament earlier this week.

Morocco is keen on renewing its firm will to comfort and consolidate, on this basis, partnership between the two neighbor and friendly Kingdoms, bound by the outstanding treaty of friendship, neighborliness and cooperation, signed in 1991, said the spokesman for the Moroccan foreign department.
