Originally published

A delegation from the French national human rights advisory commission paid a three-day visit to Morocco last week for talks with members of the Moroccan Human rights advisory council (CCDH).

The visit of the delegation, that was led by the commission chairman, Alain Bacquet, and its secretary general, Gerard Fellous, was part of "the excellent cooperation" and consultation between the two institutions, a statement by the CCDH said.

The two sides traded experience in matters of human rights promotion and protection and use of modern information and documentation means.

Talks also covered preparation for a seminar the two institutions will jointly hold in Paris next fall on the topic of media and human rights, and means of coordinating efforts regarding the opening of a web site on national human rights promotion and protection institutions.

They equally discussed topics on the agenda of the second Mediterranean meeting of national human rights promotion and protection institutions scheduled to be held next November 1-4 in Greece, the project to set up an international association to muster these institutions in Francophone countries, and the participation of these institutions in the world conference on racism and racial discrimination slated for September in Durban, South Africa.
