Iranian - UAE meeting at the participation of Syria, Qatar

The foreign ministers of Qatar and Iran Sheikh Hamad Bin Jasem Bin Jaber al-Thani and Kamal Kharazi together with the UAE minister of state for foreign affairs Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed al-Nahyan on Saturday held a meeting in Doha in which they discussed the question of the three Gulf islands under conflict between Iran and the UAE

The meeting lasted for half an hour and was held on the sideline of the ministerial meeting of the Organisation of the Islamic conference OIC in Doha. Sources close to the UAE delegation said that the meeting permitted the Iranian and the UAE foreign ministers to discuss the question of "the conflict over the islands."

Meantime, the Qatari satellite TV al-Jazira said that Kharzi met twice with the UAE minister and that the Syrian foreign minister Farouk al- Sharaa took part in one of the two meetings. Sources said that Sheikh Hamad Bin Jasem Bin Jaber ( the Qatar foreign minister) also attended part of the meeting in which discussions dealt with "the situation in Palestine and bilateral relations."
