US should change attitudes towards ME
"The US Administration should review its Middle East Policy, especially with regard to the Arab- Israeli conflict, if it really wants to have good relations with the Arab world," said Mustafa Al Feqi.
At a meeting with members of the Egyptian-American Chamber of Commerce, Feqi, Head of the People's Assembly Foreign Relations Committee, said although the Arab countries are keen on maintaining friendship relations with the US, the latter's bias towards Israel poses a block to developing Arab-US relations.
The situation is seriously deteriorating in the occupied territories, a matter that renders all options open, warned Feqi.
"An explosion, whose repercussions could not be predicted, might occur at any time," said Feqi, calling on Washington to honor its responsibility as a superpower and to adopt a non-aligned, one-standard policy.
He warned against the swelling of hostile feelings towards Washington as a result of its pro-Israel stances.
Feki said the Palestinians did not waste a chance for peace during the reign of Former Israeli Premier Ehud Barak, as his proposals were blurred and ambiguous.
"However, the Palestinians did not reject these proposals but just demanded clarifications, especially with regard to the Palestinian state, the status of the Holy Sites, the airports and sea-ports," said Feqi.
However, they received no answer. On the Free Trade Zone agreement, Feki said that it has needed long negotiations, pointing out that the agreement's circumstances are different from that of Jordanian American similar agreement.
